Updated March 27, 2026

Ready to start your own Valheim multiplayer server? This guide walks you through setting one up in just a few quick steps.

Using a Valheim Server Host

A dedicated server host is the fastest and simplest way to get your Valheim server online.

  1. Browse and select from our available Valheim server plans.
  2. After completing your purchase, you'll receive an email with your control panel login credentials.
  3. To connect to your new server, follow this guide: How to Join Your Valheim Server

That's all there is to it! If you need any help, our support team is available around the clock — just contact us.

Benefits of a Valheim Server Host

Opting for a professional server host offers several advantages over running one locally.

  • Optimal server performance and stability
  • Always online — your server stays running 24/7, even when you're not playing
  • A dedicated support team ready to help with any issues
  • Simple setup with minimal effort required

Local Hosting

For small groups of just one or two friends, hosting a Valheim server from your own computer can work. Bear in mind that your machine needs to stay powered on and connected for others to join. Ideally, the person with the fastest internet and most capable hardware should run the server.

To host locally, create a new world or load an existing one, then enable the Start server option. You'll be prompted to set a password before the world loads. Once you're in, the server will appear in the Join Game tab where other players can search for it and enter the password to connect.

If you plan to host more than two or three players, or if you notice lag during gameplay, switching to a dedicated Valheim server host is recommended.
